Tutorial: TERPSICHORE NCSX Example

This tutorial walks the user through running TERPSICHORE on the base case NCSX equilibrium.


Run the VMEC fixed boundary

Modify the NSCSX fixed boundary file setting LNYQUIST=F in the INDATA namelist.

xvmec2000 ncsx_c09r00_fixed

Generate the equilibrium file using pySTEL

If you have not done install pySTEL by issuing the command make pystel from the STELLOPT directory.

To generate the input and equilibrium files along with the tpr_modules_ap.f variable sized issue the command:

Recompile TERPSICHORE

Copy the n=1 section into tpr_modules_ap.f and recompile the code.

This is also a good opportunity to build libterpsichore.so if you haven’t done so already.

Prepare the input

You want to make a symbolic link for the equilibrium file

ln -s terpsichore_eq.ncsx_c09r00_fixed fort.18
